This book has designs inspired by the lace archives at the Erewash Museum, Ilkeston, Derbyshire and started out as a project for an exhibition between 5 artists in 2021.

Louise produced 11 designs in 10 weeks of the project which were exhibited, and these were largely of contemporary style.  Subsequently she developed further designs from the archives of the machine industry, for Bucks point and Bedfordshire laces, in a more traditional style. All the designs from the exhibition and the traditional pieces are featured in the book, along with design inspiration from the museum, which has kindly given permission for the readers to use for their own new designs.  The designs in the book range from relatively easy through to advanced pieces and also includes some background of one of the manufacturers - Frank Woodward, some of whose designs the new patterns were inspired by, and researched by Julie Varo.

How to fasten off ends in bobbin lace (youtube.com) My YouTube video shows one method of fastening off ends when a join has been made on a piece of lace, and deals with them in a manner that is very secure. It is ideal for lace that is going to be used and laundered.

How to trim thread ends, thrown out in bobbin lace (youtube.com) This video shows you how to safely cut off the ends of threads, thrown out in cloth stitch, during the working of a floral piece of bobbin lace. It is the same technique for Bedfordshire, Bucks Point etc, where you have added extra pairs to fill cloth stitch areas and then have to throw out the pairs at the end of this area.

How to work a raised and rolled tally over a windmill crossing in Bedfordshire Bobbin lace (youtube.com) My YouTube video will show the technique of making a raised and rolled tally over the windmill crossing in a plaited ground of Bedfordshire bobbin lace. It is a useful 3D element that gives texture in the ground.
